Wipes

CEO Daily Update – 8.24.2020

New Wipes | Face Mask Sale | Consequences of a Lack of Self-Control

Happy Monday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

This weekend I got a nice long walk that I didn’t expect, didn’t want, but that was my decision. My wife and I were driving down the road, and as couples sometimes do, we started arguing about something … I don’t even remember what. I said something to the effect of “I feel the overwhelming urge to pull over and get out” which was a way to say “I can’t take any more”, to which she responded, “whatever you feel you need to do”. Out the car I went (after stopping of course).

That’ll show her!

Just how far from home am I anyway? 8 Miles! Well whatever… it’s exercise. How long does it take an out of shape cripple to walk 8 miles up and down hills in the burning afternoon sun? Four. Four hours is what it takes. The last time I intentionally walked on the treadmill was for 20 minutes and I tore my Achilles’ tendon. No joke. What’s wrong with me?

I’m very strong willed. Like you’ve probably not met anyone quite as strong willed as me strong willed. When I decide I am going to do something I almost always do it, now, and with high speed and high energy. So the moment I opened that car door I had just committed to walking 8 miles in the heat. I had two people attempt to pick me up pretty early and I politely declined. I felt that I’d committed to walking home and by golly that’s what I was going to do.

At almost an hour in I thought this is tough, maybe I’ll Uber. None available .. ever. Fine, never mind, I need to walk this anyway. Another hour in I thought ok, if someone stops again I guess I’ll take the ride. There’s no way I’m going to hold up this long with my bum leg, bad back, being out of shape, the heat, no water, etc. No one ever stopped again.

CEO Daily Update – 8.11.2020

Craig’s Birthday | Wipes are back! | Its time to go camping!

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

Happy Birthday to me … happy birthday to me … happy BIIIIIIRRRRRTHHHHHHDAAAAAYYY dear MEEEEEEEE, Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE.

I get the idea that today might be my birthday. To be honest, almost every year I forget about it until the day of or maybe the day before. This year I actually remembered a few times last week. Odd! More below …

From Joe, our friendly Safety Supplies Product Marketer:

WIPES!!! We have a very limited supply of Progressive WipesPlus Disinfecting Wipes! With school starting and requesting parents to bring in wipes for the classroom this is a perfect product for you. More serious environments such as a classroom full of young children require a trustworthy disinfecting wipe. These are bleach-free and EPA registered ensuring maximum disinfecting power safely. Whether they’re used for a classroom, kitchen, or office they’re the perfect disinfecting wipe and comparable to big name brands like Clorox.

More 3M N95’s are live on the site as well! Like in the past, these are also in a very limited supply. It’s crazy how much has changed in these past few months. You used to be able to find masks like this in most everyday stores you walked into and now it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. These seem to be the next Clorox and Lysol wipes… Impossible to find! Act fast before they’re gone!

Some thoughts from Craig:

So, I turn 42 today, and let me tell you – time really does fly. On one hand it seems like just yesterday when I started this business. On the other, it seems like an eternity ago. I was 23. The other day my wife and I were going to look at Campers (See below) and we went to a place in Tucker, which is part of the Atlanta burbs. When I first moved here, I lived in the Tucker/Norcross area and worked nearby at a computer component distributor as a sales guy, but that’s another story. Anyway, we drove by the apartment complex I lived in back then and it was like “wow, that was like a lifetime ago!”. It’s funny how some things seem like yesterday and some things seem like eons ago.

Getting older sucks. In the last few years I have had more health issues than ever before. I had a hernia and surgery for it, major back issues (which are now mostly under control, for now, thank the Lord), tendon issues that resulted in weeks on a scooter to stay off my right foot, and of course bowel issues that resulted in a Crohn’s diagnosis that I still deal with daily. The point is that I can personally attest to the fact that getting older causes all sorts of issues! I don’t recommend it. …. Well wait, compared to the alternative I guess I do recommend it.

CEO Daily Update – 7.20.2020

I got the ‘Rona! | Disinfectant Sprays and Wipes | Kids’ face masks coming soon

Happy Monday!

When I signed off Friday before last I said I had been dragging that day. Little did I know, I had come down with the ‘rona. I write my emails the night before so Friday’s email was written Thursday night. When I got home I wasn’t feeling that great and by the time I went to bed I discovered I had a fever of 100.0. Some people would say that is not a “fever” but if I am 98.7 it’s a fever to me. I hoped and prayed for the best but when I woke up Friday morning I was worse, and my temp was 101.5. I decided to go ahead to the urgent care for Covid testing. I called ahead and they had a drive-through setup and said they would test me for flu and strep at the same time.

I headed to the place around 12:30 and waited in line about 3 hours. That sucked. The longer I was there the worse I felt. I had a conference call scheduled for 3pm that I didn’t cancel as part of my time off, and I was on and off video while having swabs shoved in various places. The timing was fantastic – ha! Speaking of swabs – O. M. G. … they shoved the swab so far up into my sinuses that I thought they were going to bruise my brain. It was absolutely uncomfortable. When she was done I said “Don’t I get a lollipop or something?”. They said I would get my results in 2-5 days (it took 5). I said hey wait a minute what about the flu and strep test we talked about on the phone? They weren’t even going to do them. She said oh yea we can do that if you want. I’m like “no, I drove all the way here and sat in line 3 hours and I am willing to drive away not knowing if I have two of the most common illnesses. What sort of sense does that make?” (I am pretty sure I said all that). She said we will swab you again and you’ll know in 5 minutes. Both were negative.

So it was obvious that I needed to quarantine (can you believe that they gave me no instructions whatsoever when they tested me) and fortunately we have a guest room with its own bath and a second living room with TV so I was able to stay away from the family. I spent Fri-Sun on the couch watching Star Trek TNG, and the rest of the week watching more Star Trek and several movies I had never seen including Pulp Fiction (Crazy) and the three Godfather movies (Hard to follow). I drank more water and ate more ice than I think I ever have in my life and somehow lost 8lbs I’d been wanting to lose so I guess there is a silver lining. Like Emily said in The Devil Wear Prada – “I am just one stomach flu away from my goal weight”

I was pretty rough Fri-Sun with 102.5 fever, chills, headaches, my eyes hurt to move, and some minor to moderate sinus issues. Monday I was 50% better and Tue I was 85% better with no fever. I was just tired/weak. I stayed that way, only slightly improving each day through Sat when I felt 90%. Sunday I felt 95% and even got outside and did a couple things that I needed to do before I got sick. As I write this email Sunday night I feel mostly myself – maybe 97% and hope tonight my sleep will bring me back to normal.

I feel cheated out of a “vacation” of course. The CDC recommends that you stay quarantined 10 days from your first symptom and 3 days from last fever. The 10 days puts me back in service today, just in time to start back to work. So now I need a vacation hahaha.
