I was talking to someone the other day and the biblical reference to “loaves and fishes” came up. I stopped to say that I wonder why that didn’t get translated as “fish”. The conversation resulted in a google search.

Today’s Product Spotlight:

1080P Webcam with AutoFocus – Webcams have been pretty hard to come by the last few months. A while back I did the doables and sourced one for you guys. Well, to be clear, I sourced over a DOZEN from several factories, and personally tested them all. Most all of them SUUUUUCKED. They were super short field of view or were washed out, had strange colors, had no auto zoom, and a variety of other issues. I couldn’t believe what garbage was out there! (And I have seen most of the ones I tested all over the web and Amazon).

This camera was my pick. “For the money” are words I would use to describe it. There are cameras that are maybe a tad better quality (quality you won’t notice) but are much more expensive. I am working on some of those as well, but it will be several weeks before I have anything ready. This one is affordable, great quality, and gets the job done!

And, have no fear – if you are not 100% satisfied you can return it no questions asked!

Side Note:

I did so much camera testing that I thought about doing a site dedicated to Webcam testing and reviews. I registered the domain name “TheWebcamGuy” and maybe one day when I have nothing better to do I will do something with it – haha.

I commonly buy domains at the drop of a hat and have nearly 200 of them. One of the most interesting one is one I thought would be good for a company that is in the business of pumping septic tanks …. Think about it …. Turdtaxi.com … The trucks would look like a checkered cab. haha, I crack me up.

I went to the office again yesterday and helped get a billion penny orders out. I was there till midnight again but the blow out sale is finally over. We ended up with a little less than 150 items that no one wanted and I just finished putting in the pull orders to get those items off the shelves and into the dumpster ( / recycle bins). And before you ask, nope – it’s too late to get your hands on any of those items. That ship has sailed!

It seems that people got all the goodies, which is great. Boy there sure were some deals! What’s left is truly junk – old 3600 series faceplates, data cables that are no longer used, etc. While it may have made for a nice Christmas Tree decoration it’s going bye bye and our shelves couldn’t be happier. We will recycle what we can and trash the rest.

Since I was helping in the warehouse some during the sale, and especially here at the end, I saw many sale items run through my hands. I was shocked to see items that I remember moving into that building ….. over 12 years ago! I am all for hanging on to something you may need in the future, but that’s a little crazy. It just goes to show how out of hand something can get if you neglect to pay it any attention. But we are working on fixing that!

As this sale is ending, and we are getting past the craziness of “spring cleaning” (Summer Cleaning?), I can begin to settle back into a rhythm of hopefully writing about more interesting things! I have some updates about hand sanitizer dispensers, Lysol Spray (there is a little going on the site today), and webcams as a starting place. I will start writing about those things and more soon!

There are so many items that we need to clear out that we don’t have time to research current market pricing on each of them, so we are doing things “in reverse”. Guess what day it is?

Monday and Tuesday are packed with meetings for me, so I really do love Wednesday. Not because it’s half way to Friday, but because for the rest of the week I get to spend more time freely “working with my hands” wherever that may lead me for the week. I do have irregular strategy and various other meetings some Wednesdays and Thursdays, but I generally have more flex time to work on sourcing, collaborating to launch new products, working on strategy, and cleaning out my inbox. On Monday’s and Tuesday’s I meet with Sales, E-Commerce, Marketing, and Product leaders as well as hold a weekly leadership meeting where we review the week behind, and discuss the week ahead. I love every one of those meetings, but of course 16-20 hours of meetings and calls in two days can be exhausting, especially when I also work another 4-6 hours a night on “third shift”. It’s totally worth it though because that is where we create accountability and get each other unstuck on what we are working on separately that comes together to move the business forward.

Today I have a day full of monthly meetings but tomorrow and Friday I am wide open, which I very much look forward to. When I have open days is when I tend to work the latest nights the night before, and sleep later the next morning. I LOVE working at night because there are so few distractions and you can really knock stuff out. I got an email from someone at CK recently saying they worked one night and it was glorious. I said we could start a club and get shirts! Haha.

Thank you Lord for another week of your mercy and kindness, your provision, your guidance, your grace, and your continuing forgiveness through Christ to those who trust him as Lord and Savior. Thank you for making forgiveness and reconciliation with you just a surrendered attitude of the heart away. Lord help us in this country (and around the world) to learn to love one another with your heart – to love our neighbors as ourselves. Help us to become less so that you may become more. May goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD forever. I pray that all those that read these words be encouraged, that they have an interest to know you, or that they know you and desire to grow in their surrender and relationship with you.

I hope you have plans of rest, seeing friends and family, and perhaps some summertime activities this weekend. I’ve been at the office every night this week filming assembly and product videos (we have to film at night so it’s quiet). I am R.E.A.D.Y. to work from home Friday and ease into the weekend. Taking last weekend off was so nice I am going to see how much I can reproduce it!

Speaking of videos – I want to give a huge shout out to Chad Gentry, my warehouse operations manager. He runs around all day making sure you get your orders on time and then stays till midnight or later some nights to be my cameraman! I find it so cool how no matter what a person’s “day job” is we all have skills and passions that are sometimes very different from what we do all day. And he’s definitely talented with video and having an eye for what would look and sound good. Not that any of us are professionals but I can tell you that the things we put our are much better because of him!

We just finished filming at 1am this morning. Needless to say, I am like a tired muffler – Exhausted. We worked on Hand Sanitizer Dispensers – both wall and floor stand models. I hope we will have them edited and live before too long! I will let you know when they are.

Temperature Kiosk, Webcams Back in Stock, MILLION DOLLAR SALE & Today’s COVID News

So …. I have a question for you …..

So, what do you think about the idea of a temperature kiosk? You walk up to it, it reads your temperature (and records your face, temp, and the time) and alerts you as to whether you are in normal or abnormal range. It has multiple other capabilities like tying in with access control systems to open doors (if you have a normal temp) and can be set up to recognize staff members, guests, etc.

I have a sample that I have been playing with for the last week or so. I am nearly ready to start offering them but would love your feedback. They will be roughly $2500 each and I am thinking about offering setup and maintenance programs as well as a lease/rental option. All options are on the table – I am just focused on the tech right now. It is so cool!! Let me hear from you about it. What do you want and need? I want to put some solutions together!
