We recently had the opportunity to catch up with the fast-moving OM4 Fiber and sat down for a rather interesting interview. We feel like we got to know OM4 Fiber a lot better, and we wanted to share our findings with you.
CK: Good afternoon Fiber. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me and discuss your fast paced life!
We have a few pressing questions that we are all dying to ask you, so let’s jump right into it.
CK: First off, what’s up with the name, OM4? And what should we call you?
- OM4: Well it’s a family name, it stands for Optical Multi-Mode. My street name is “Orange Maker” if ya know what I mean!! I kid, but seriously, it’s fine to call me OM4.
CK: We know you’ve been employed by companies worldwide… what do you do on a day-to-day basis?
- OM4: Every day, I provide an opportunity to the future-proof cabling infrastructure. You can usually find me connected to Cisco uplink modules and various other fiber modules. Oh, and I can’t miss my 4 o’clock coffee time!!
CK: Give me three adjectives that you would use to describe yourself. Don’t be shy!
- OM4: Supportive: because I can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Strong: I use a 50um core, and lengthy: I have lengths up to 550 meters. I also enjoy long walks and romantic movies, they just get me, you know.
CK: Ha, Interesting. Would you say it’s an easy job working with your coworkers, 3750 Switch, and 2811 Router?
- OM4: When there are not arguments on who has the harder job, yes. My job is super easy considering I provide a margin for unexpected loss due to moves, add-ons, and changes over the life of an installation. Who doesn’t like an extra sense of safety?
CK: What would you say is your best quality?
- OM4: My bandwidth can be measured as double that of OM3 and I offer users longer length distances and more wiggle room in optical budgets.
CK: Let’s change the pace for a little bit. If you could be any superhero, who would you want to be?
- OM4: That’s easy! Superman is the greatest superhero ever born and I strive to be like him every day when I come to work. I may or may not be wearing Superman undies… Just saying. Who else has such a muscular build like myself, has super speedy powers like myself, and commands attention; like myself? No one! Sorry, I went off on a tangent, we are just so similar it is scary. Have you ever noticed you’ve never seen me around at the same time as Superman? Coincidence? I think not!
CK: It sounds like you’ve liked Superman since you were a kid. While we are strolling down memory lane, I have to ask: what’s your favorite childhood memory?
- OM4: Back in high school, I spent a lot of time running away from bullies. So I decided to use my gifts productively by joining the track team. It was here where I developed my speed and stability. Shout out to my bullies who made me who I am today.
CK: Who is your celebrity crush?
- OM4: Without a doubt, it would have to be Olivia Munn. Something about her name really speaks to me… maybe it’s the initials? And since IV is in her name already, it could be a match made in heaven! Just think, if we got married her name would already be OM4… Sounds pretty perfect!
CK: Well, you have enlightened us this afternoon. Just to wrap this interview up, what else would you like your fans to know?
